Smart Grid R&D

The U.S. Department of Energy requests proposals for Smart Grid Research and Development.  The goal of this program is to develop an integrated, national electric/communication/information technology infrastructure with the ability to dynamically optimize grid operations and resources and incorporate demand response and consumer participation.  Areas of interest include:  1) Integrated distribution management systems for distribution automation, 2) Advanced sensing, monitoring, and control technologies for enhanced asset utilization and grid reliability, and 3) Voltage regulation and overvoltage protection for high penetration of renewable generation. $30 million expected to be available, up to 11 awards anticipated.  Responses due 6/22/10.  For more info, contact Carla Winaught at Carla.Winaught@netl.doe.gov or go to: https://www.fedconnect.net/FedConnect/?doc=DE-FOA-0000313&agency=DOE.  Refer to Sol# DE-FOA-0000313.  (Grants.gov 4/22/10)
