Having a never-run-out-of battery is quite good. But, would the components built around the battery support the kind of functionality? We expect some devices like our iPods, laptops never run out of battery but would the heat be bearable for the delicate components???

And these kinds of batteries would never see the day of the light because they will bought off and scrapped so that they do not reach production capability.

You have several good reads on your site. I am working with a group looking at processing municipal solid waste using pyrolysis. I especially appreciate the publication above, It may be useful to us as we proceed. Thanks again. If you wish to check out our site it is at: http://municipalsolidwastepyrolysis.com.
You will get many times more money at www.podrecycling.com for you used or broken ipod than using eBay. eBay only offers $1 or sometimes nothing for broken ipods. Pod Recycling will offer up to $60 and also pay for shipping for broken ipods.

If any one company could make a change in the food supply chain for the entire world, it would be Walmart. However, without hearing their specific plan of attack for their overhaul, it seems like a fairly lofty goal even for a company as large as Walmart. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Maybe some heat pumps especially some heat recovery heat pump can save energy the most. For example Heat Recovery Heat Pump
for Heat+Cool+ Hot Water which announced their COP reach 7.0 during air cooling+hot water. It is really energy saving and cost saving even
better than solar system if considering the preset cost.

LED's Ten Times Better than Incandescent - 135 Lumens per Watt

"Previously white LEDs had a max of about 60 lumens per watt but the new White LEDs have 135 lumens per watt and match the best lighting alternatives. The new LED can replace traditional fluorescent bulbs for all general lighting applications, and also be used for automobile headlights and LCD backlighting.

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics - White light emitting diodes with super-high luminous efficacy "

Menards and WalMArt in Wisconsin had 40 watt Equivalent LED's for around $12.

In outdoor, garage, closet, basement and reading lights they are outstanding... not the best for kitchens and bathrooms where strong light is essential.

Personally:
Sure I installed them... but, In my house payback will take about the lifetime of the bulb.
For me it was more that hey are nearly free of heavy metals and have a real bulb life.

Logistically:
It looks like a crime not to have these mandatory in gov, edu and munic settings where payback would be within a couple of years.

Accountability:
Hey didn't we cut a check for a couple billion for this?

I would think this kind of 'plugin savings' would be first on the directives of the $7 billion in Energy & Efficiency funds through TARP.

I do have a 'return on energy investment' spread sheet for lighting if anyone from these agencies need it for funding - just email me.
