			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft" src="http://www.glrppr.org/images/EMDQworkshoplogo.jpg" alt="" width="142" height="172" />The DoD Environmental Data Quality Workgroup is pleased to announce the 8th annual DoD Environmental Monitoring &amp; Data Quality Workshop, which includes technical training sessions, technical presentations, a plenary session featuring distinguished speakers, a Q&amp;A forum, component meetings, a poster session, an update on the DoD ELAP, and networking opportunities with members of the environmental community. This workshop is open to all interested environmental professionals involved with DoD sites or projects including representatives from the DoD services, other federal agencies, state, local, and tribal governments, academia, and the private sector. Possible training categories for this workshop include: DoD QSM 4.2 and Proposed v5 Update, Vapor Intrusion, Corrective Action Processes and Root Cause Analyses, MMRP, Emerging Contaminants and Disposal of Nanomaterials, and Environmental Forensics.<span id="more-724"></span></p>
<p>The workshop will take place <strong>March 28-April 1, 2011 at the Westin Arlington Gateway in Arlington, VA.</strong> Visit <a href="http://www.regonline.com/2011emdqworkshop" target="_blank">www.regonline.com/2011emdqworkshop</a> to register online.</p>
<p>Abstracts for technical presentations and posters are being solicited in the following areas: DoD Emerging Contaminants; Indoor Air Vapor Intrusion; Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP); Laboratory Analysis and Performance; Data Management and Sharing; Project Planning / Implementing UFP-QAPP; Data Quality and Usability; Field Sampling and Analysis; Quality Systems Implementation; and Environmental Monitoring for Remedial Technologies. <strong>All abstracts must be 1 page in length, in Microsoft Word format, and submitted via email no later than January 14, 2011.</strong> To submit an abstract, or for more information, contact: <a href="mailto:EMDQworkshop@geologics.com" target="_blank">EMDQworkshop@geologics.com</a>.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 will host the <a href="http://emsus.com/nanotechconf/index.htm" target="_blank">2008 International Environmental Nanotechnology Conference: Applications and Implications</a>, Oct. 7 &#8211; 9 at Chicago&#8217;s Hyatt Regency Hotel, 151 E. Wacker Dr. Researchers from Asia, Australia and Europe will join U.S. scientists and government officials to discuss nanotechnology applications for environmental cleanup, pollution control and the implications of releasing engineered nanoparticles into the environment.</p>
<p>Opening remarks Oct. 7 at 8 a.m. will be provided by EPA Region 5 Deputy Administrator Bharat Mathur, EPA Office of Research and Development Assistant Administrator George Gray and EPA Nanotechnology Manager Jeff Morris. The conference agenda includes over 100 presentations and poster sessions.  About 40 exhibitors will be represented at the poster session the evening of Oct. 9. Registration for the entire event is $475.</p>
<p>Partner agencies represented at the conference include the Agency for Toxic Substances &amp; Disease Registry, National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, National Science Foundation, U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Department of Energy and University of Illinois at Chicago&#8217;s Great Lakes Centers for Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health.
